Bahasa Inggris menggunakan dua kata kerja, yaitu regular dan irregular. ketika menggabungkan past tense atau present/past perfect tense dari kata kata kerja maka diigunakan metode yang berbeda.
Untuk membentuk pas tense dari regular verb yang mempunyai akhiran (a,
e, i, o, u) tambahkan d pada akhir kata. Untuk membentuk present/past
perfect tense, masukkan d ditambah dengan kata kerja bantu (have, had,
atau has)
For example, the verb share ends with the vowel e.
share = present tense
shared (share + d) = past tense
had shared (had + share + d) = past perfect tense (have is the helping verb)
Jika kata kerja regular berakhir dengan huruf konsonan (mati),
masukkan ed untuk past tense.
Masukkan ed ditambah dengan kata kerja bantu untuk
present/past perfect tense.
For example, the verb pour ends with the
consonant r.
pour = present tense
poured (pour + ed) = past tense
have poured (have + pour + ed) = present perfect tense
Tidak seperti kata kerja reguler, kata kerja irregular tidak mengikuti
pattern (pola). Kamu harus mengingatnya.
For example, the irregular verb see has three principal parts: see, saw, seen.
I see the stars= present tense
I saw the stars= past tense
I have seen the stars= present perfect tense
